
Jamie Smith, MSN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner that graduated from Maryville University, St. Louis, MO with a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical focus lies in orthopaedics; providing orthopaedic assessments, treatments, and education.
Jamie is on the OCSI Urgent Care team and provides care for urgent care orthopaedic visits. The Urgent Care Clinic is designed to see acute sprains, strains, joint pain, sports injuries and possible fractures on the same day of injury, and at a fraction of the cost of being seen in the Emergency Room.
Jamie is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP] and Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing [ISAPN]. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Maryville Chapter.

Nurse Practitioner
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a Registered Nurse with Advanced academic and clinical experience who works in collaboration with a physician and other healthcare professionals to provide medical care to patients. Nurse Practitioners have the ability to diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses. Functions may include assessing and diagnosing, conducting physical examinations, monitoring patient's status, ordering appropriate diagnostic and lab tests, prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Nurse Practitioners focus largely on health promotion and illness prevention. Teaching and counseling individuals and families are a major part of their activities.
