An FLS, made up of a committee team of stakeholders, employs a dedicated coordinator to act as the link among the patient and the orthopaedic team, the osteoporosis and falls prevention services and the primary care provider.
Amanda belongs to many pertinent and professional organizations, such as: Association of Peri-operative Room Nurses (AORN), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), ISAPN (Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing (ISAPN), National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON), International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board (ONCB) and National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF). Osteoporosis Clinic
Osteoporosis is a common bone disease characterized by low bone mass and thinning of bone tissue. It is also known as the "bone thinning" disease. This condition leads to the bones becoming more fragile and thus, more likely to fracture. Osteoporsis was once thought to be an inevitable result of getting old. However, it is now recognized as a treatable disease that can often be prevented.
The Osteoporosis Clinic at the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois was developed to help prevent and treat osteoporosis through education, clinical care, nutrition, physical therapy and medication. Our approach includes a thorough health assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Our primary goal is to prevent fractures by stopping or slowing bone loss, maintaining bone strength and eliminating factors that contribute to falls.
Amanda has clinics at the Mt. Vernon and Benton locations. To schedule an appointment to be evaluated for Osteoporosis, please click here.
